After wishing my DH and boys a good day this morning, I headed to the laundry room, full of excitement, to start that chore. I found myself detoured by tid bits of broken leaves and other debris on our entry rug. As I was vacuuming, I decided this ridiculousness had to end. So I abruptly dedicated myself to a quest for a doormat that actually works!

Our first home had a couple of evergreens and a Georgia pine in the yard. A mess of fallen pine needles were appreciated. Our new home is surrounded by every deciduous, native tree to north Georgia. The lawn and patios have required several leaf blowings already and leaves are still falling. These beautiful leaves are notorious for sticking to our shoes and finally resting on our interior rug and entry floor. It’s honestly maddening. We need a rug to catch debris before we enter the house!

It wasn’t all that simple to find online reviews for doormats based on performance rather than style. At this point, I do not care if the doormat is hot pink as long as it stops the dirt. Not true. I do have limits on the aesthetics, but it is definitely not my priority. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Home Gear Kit’s post, “Best Outdoor Doormats | Our Top Picks.” This well written summary focuses on features of the doormats available on Amazon. Thanks to William Earle for doing that research for me.

I decided on the Grass Works Clean Machine Omega rug, and it is on the way! 521 Amazon reviews have given it an average of 4.5 Stars. That’s promising, and I’m rather thrilled I do not have to sacrifice aesthetic for performance! I’ll update this post with my own review in the next few months. Until then, you can review the specs and give it a shot yourself.
